Governance and compliance executive Kimberly Lansford, MHL, RN, CHC, has spent more than three decades advising boards, building oversight programs, and helping healthcare organizations make independent decisions in increasingly complex regulatory environments.

With a foundation in clinical nursing, a master’s in health law, and more than three decades of executive compliance and governance leadership, Kim brings a rare combination of clinical insight, legal knowledge, and governance expertise to her work helping boards and executive leadership teams turn regulatory complexity into practical governance decisions.

Across senior roles—including Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance, Audit & Risk Officer at Penn State Health—and executive leadership positions at healthcare institutions such as Shriners Hospitals for Children and Trinity Health, Kim led enterprise functions spanning compliance, risk, audit, privacy, and cybersecurity, while advising system, hospital, and subsidiary boards on high‑stakes governance matters. Her work has included board and committee leadership, executive education, regulatory investigations, self‑disclosures, and oversight structures designed for complex, multi‑entity organizations.

Across her career, she has advised more than 50 boards and executive teams, supported billions in strategic growth activity, and helped architect compliance and audit integration frameworks across approximately $15B in M&A activity.

Kim began her career as a clinician, establishing a foundation that still shapes how she thinks about accountability, operations, culture, and the real-world consequences of governance decisions. Combined with graduate study in health law and decades of executive leadership, it gives her a perspective that bridges board oversight, regulatory expectations, and operational reality.

Recognition

Kim has delivered more than 300 presentations to professional audiences and contributed to industry publications and guidance on compliance and governance topics. She is the recipient of the 2015 International Compliance & Ethics Award from the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics and was recognized as a Women of Influence honoree by the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal in 2023.

She holds a Master in Health Law from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law and a B.S. in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University. She is a licensed Registered Nurse and holds the Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) designation.
